G`day Everyone,

As you can see we have a "newlook" newsletter as well as a new email address and website. (courtesy of theDOTcom)

As you no doubt are aware we have had some considerable problems with computers etc. With the help of Sunstate Business Supplies and theDOTcom  we are up and running and will endeavor to keep all of you informed of the activities of the Proserpine Chamber of Commerce. 

Regretfully Di Korn has resigned as Secretary of the Chamber. Her work commitments with the Proserpine Cultural Hall have become so great that she no longer can find the time to fulfill her duties. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Di for all of her input at the Chamber over the recent years and wish her all of the best for the future.
A fundraiser for Teagan Schneider, who has a rare form of cancer, was held at the Grand Central Hotel on Saturday the 29th of May. Reg Gillen auctioned some amazing donated prizes throughout the afternoon. They raised over $2600. A big thanks to Nick and Cathy Bernett from the Grand Central Hotel. 

  •  Northern brass Bands Contest will be held at the Proserpine Cultural Hall over the Queen`s Birthday weekend, June 12th & 13th. Please note that there will be road closures during that time.
  • Don`t forget you can still apply for your HANGING BASKETS via the Chamber. These are made available through the Streetscape Committee in conjunction with Whitsunday Shire Council. As well as looking great they brighten up the main street.
  • A copy of the new 5 year Streetscape Strategy Plan is available from the Chamber office.
  • Also be aware of the upcoming AGM. It is time to start to think of your role in the community over the next year.
  • 23rd & 24th of July, E.S.A. Art and Craft Expo at the Cultural Hall. All enquiries to 4945 1850.
  • SUNDAY MARKETS at the SHOWGROUNDS this SUNDAY morning. Come and view the MOTORHOMES and CAMPERVANS and pick up some bargains at the market. Between 8-00AM and 1-00 PM.

click to view printable pdf file      The Whitsunday Show Ball will be held on Saturday the 19th of June. This event is the primary fundraiser of the Proserpine Chamber of Commerce, so I invite each and everyone of you to join in and have a great night as well as raising funds. Last year we had Gangsters and Showgirls and a great time was had by all. This year it will be the PROS VEGAS OP-SHOP OSCARS .
     Come along as your favourite Movie Star or RECYCLED Hollywood glamour wear from the op Shops. We have not forgotten those from down the Beach and have arranged a bus for them. There will be lots and lots of prizes and giveaways. The band for the evening will once again be the 1 RAR Show Band from Townsville, by popular demand. Tickets will be $39-00, per person, which will include supper and also drinks and nibblies on arrival. Door prize will be a weekend for two on Great Keppel Island. Tickets are available from the Chamber on 4945 3678, Pros Cultural Hall on 4945 2312, or from the girls at Divalicious on 4946 4688. Be quick because they will become the hottest ticket in town. If anyone would like to donate any prizes please contact Louisa at the Chamber.

MOTORHOME RALLY


In conjunction with the Proserpine Revitalization Committee the Proserpine Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Motorhome Rally for the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia. Their local chapter, the Mackay Sugarloafers, are the host Club. The Rally will run from June 3rd to June 9th. Say g`day to them while they are in town and join in with their fun. A Mini Market and Open Day will be held at the Proserpine Showgrounds on Sunday the 6th of June, between 8-00am and 1-00pm. All are welcome to come along. If you would like to have a stall on the day the cost will be 
$10-00 and bookings can be made via the Chamber. ALL proceeds will be going to local Charities.


Don`t forget the MOTORHOME MARKETS THIS SUNDAY at the SHOWGROUNDS.
